Our Mission Statement

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against GLBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.

HRC Chicago Steering Committee

Under the direction of local board leadership, the HRC Chicago Steering Committee is responsible for the presence and local activities of HRC.

The steering committee's mission is to:

• support the mission and goals of HRC
• provide funding for HRC programmatic goals
• provide local leadership and advocacy for HRC objectives

The steering committee's goals are to:

• support the political and financial goals of HRC
• create a strong HRC presence in the Chicago community
• expand the number of volunteers doing HRC activities;
• and improve communication and build relationships among the area's gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight community leaders and organizations.
